Context

The IV Seminar is part of a series initiated in Lisbon in 2001, developed with the aim of discussing and exchanging experiences on the design and interpretation of indicators for following up the transition towards knowledge society in Ibero-America. This event in particular will focus on revising the Lisbon Manual, which compiles the main methodologies used in the world for measuring information and communication technologies and knowledge society. Objectives

  • To share the advances achieved in the development of the Lisbon Manual.
  • To revise the more appropriate concepts and methodologies for measuring the processes related to the transit towards the knowledge society in Ibero-America.
  • To share experiences about the measuring of these phenomena.
  • To present alternatives that could be considered for improving the measuring of these phenomena in the Ibero-American realm.
  • To expose international best practices on this matter.

The IV Ibero-American Seminar for Knowledge Society Indicators is oriented to the participation of experts from the entire world. International organizations such as UNESCO, ECLAC, UNCTAD, OECD and IDRC, as well as initiatives like OSILAC and the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development will also be present in the event. The aim is to enrich the interchange of experiences between the main actors working on this matter at the regional and international levels.
