Dear Participants,
It is a great honor that you have accepted the invitation to participate in the Workshop “From the Indicator to the Instrument: The Contribution of Innovation Surveys to Public Policy Making” , to be held in Montevideo during the 17 th and 18 th of September, 2009.
Below are some details concerning the logistics and structure of the meeting:
Arrival at Montevideo
We will be waiting for you at the Airport to take you to the hotel. It is an urban travel that takes about 25 minutes. Therefore, we would appreciate if you could inform us your flight itinerary.
Currency
The Uruguayan Peso ($U) is the official currency in Uruguay. US dollars are occasionally accepted. However, you might need Uruguayan Pesos for small expenses. Currency exchange facilities are available at the airport and at Money Exchange Houses located in commercial areas, as well as shopping malls. For more information please visit:

Credit cards are widely accepted in shops and restaurants. The most commonly used credit cards are: Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express. Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are easy to find in commercial and banking areas.
Location of the meeting
This course will take place at NH Columbia Hotel.
Participants will have a room reserved on his/her name at this hotel. The reservation includes breakfast. Extra nights for personal reasons as well as extra charges (snacks, laundry, etc.) should be paid directly by the participant.

Lunch
During the course, we have arranged lunch to be served at NH Hotel for all participants. Please, if you have special food requirements (health or religion related) let us know in order to make the necessary arrangements (i.e.: vegetarians, diabetes, allergies, etc.)

The temperature is estimated to range between 9º Celsius and 18º Celsius with moderate winds.

Standard Uruguayan time corresponds to the UTC/GTM -3:00 zone.
Tips
There is no fixed rule on tipping in Uruguay. However, it is usual to tip between 5% and 10% of the bill at restaurants. Don't tip taxi drivers with more than U$15. In hotels, USD1 per suitcase would be a fine tip.
Mobiles
Not every mobile would work in Uruguay. Please check with your network operator if it has a roaming agreement.
Electrical Network
AC current is 220V at 50Hz. Power plugs used are "Schuco" and "three in a row" (3 en linea). A universal adapter is recommended as foreign connectors such as the American plug are not compatible with these connectors.
Language
Spanish is the official language, but English and Portuguese are widely spoken. There will be simultaneous translation English/Spanish/English
